ArtNEPA.org brings "The Knickerbocker Suite", a  modern take on "The Nutcracker," to the Circle Center for the Arts!

Join us at the Circle Center for the Arts in Wilkes-Barre for a dance performance film, that will put you in the holiday spirit and give you a taste of the holiday season in New York City.

In this one-hour film,  Clara goes on a magical adventure and explores the magic of the holidays in New York City, when Nick, her charming guide, takes her on an unexpected, magical journey.

The Knickerbocker Suite, is a modern take on The Nutcracker, and it is performed by Manhattan Youth Ballet, a pre-professional ballet program based in NYC. It features New York City landmarks, such as The Statue of Liberty, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and more, all weaved into the time-honored "The Nutcracker".

Classic Nutcracker scenes like “The Land of Snow” are transformed into a snowy frenzy of shoppers dancing in and out of stores like Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s for last minute gifts. “Mother Ginger and her Polichinelles,” danced by the Statue of Liberty and celebrating immigrants just arriving at Ellis Island.

The Knickerbocker Suite is a holiday show and celebration that plays out in New York City, and it celebrates its culture and the magic of the holiday season. This film is suitable for big and small.

This production's original story is by artist Elliott Arkin, and it features an opening scene with narration by Tony Award winner, Michael Cerveris and choreography of Deborah Wingert, Brian Reeder, Marina Stavitskaya, Frederick Earl Mosley, Natalia Boesch, Angelyn Faust & Erin Fogarty.
